Attempt history lists every attempt a student submitted, question by question, with the final answer marked. Use it to see how an answer developed across retries and what feedback the student saw along the way.

## Before you start

* With no retries, each question has a single attempt.
* Attempts are listed per question whether retries are per question or per entire attempt.

## Reading the history

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Pick a student

Students are listed on the left. Select one to see their attempts. For an Oral Defense, students who haven’t submitted to the source assignment show **No LMS submission**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Read each attempt

Each question shows how many attempts the student made, with the newest first. Each attempt is numbered and shows how it was answered (video, audio or written), how long it took, when it was submitted, and its transcript or written answer. If immediate feedback is on, **Feedback shown** is the feedback the student saw after that attempt, with no scores.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Find the final answer

The final answer is labelled **Final answer · confirmed by student**. It’s the latest attempt the student confirmed, and it’s the one you grade. Students can’t pick an earlier attempt as final.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Use earlier attempts for context

Earlier attempts show how an answer developed, especially after feedback. Click **Back to the activity** when you’re done.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}
