# Sending oral grades to your LMS

Passback Settings decide which LMS assignment gets the oral grade and what goes with it.

## Before you start

* The destination assignment exists in your LMS.
* For an Oral Defense, it’s a different assignment from the source unless you’re grading the work with the same rubric.
* Grades are confirmed before they’re sent.

### Choose the destination assignment

Under Grade Passback Settings, pick the LMS assignment that receives the oral grade.

2. Choose what goes back with it.

### Choose what to pass back

Turn on Overall grades, Feedback, or both. Oral Defense also offers Criterion grades. An Oral Quiz doesn’t, because its rubrics belong to individual questions.

### Keep source and destination separate (Oral Defense)

The source assignment isn’t offered as a destination, so the oral grade can’t overwrite the grade for the work. If Also use rubric to grade student submission is on, one combined grade can go back to the source assignment and replaces its current grade.

### Push the grades

Push from Manage Submissions, the same way as for assignments. It runs in the background, and any grade that fails is marked Push Failed with its reason.

## Troubleshooting

That’s deliberate for a separate oral grade. Create a separate assignment in your LMS for the oral grade.

No. Only the final grade and the feedback you released are sent.
